License Tiers & Accounts

You can use LinkIT as a Guest — instantly, with no account at all. Everyone else is organized into groups (a Root Owner or a Co-Owner, plus any Members they add), and each group runs on exactly one license tier at a time. This page explains Guest mode, signup, roles, account security options, and what each tier includes.
Guest Mode (No Signup)
Clicking "Continue as Guest" on the sign-in page lets you start using LinkIT immediately with no account, no email, and no password. Guest mode carries the same feature limits as the free Lite tier, with one difference: your data is never transmitted to or stored on ApeXhit's servers under any circumstance — it stays only in your browser's local storage on that device, exactly like LinkIT worked before cloud accounts existed. Guest mode never syncs, never backs up off-device automatically, and has no PIN, 2FA, license, or account recovery option — if you clear your browser storage or switch devices without exporting a backup first, that data is gone. You can create a real account at any time (see below); your existing local data stays right where it is and remains usable once you do.
Signing Up
New users can create a real account instantly with "Sign up with Google" on the sign-in page. A Google signup is registered as a Co-Owner, labeled internally as a self-signup, and starts with a completely clean, empty workspace on the free Lite license. You can sign in with Google afterward, or with the temporary password emailed to your address — change it any time from Account > Security. (Email/password signup by invitation from an existing Root Owner or Co-Owner is also supported.)
Account Security: PIN and Two-Factor Authentication
Any real account holder can set a numeric PIN — used to confirm sensitive actions (like changing a license or disabling an account) and to manually lock the app on that device via a "Lock LinkIT" button. Separately, you can enable authenticator-app-based two-factor authentication (2FA/TOTP), which requires a time-based one-time code from your authenticator app in addition to your password when signing in. Both are optional, independent of each other, and managed from Account > Security.
Roles
- Root Owner — exactly one per LinkIT deployment. The only role that can issue or update any group's license — including a Co-Owner's own group. Can also create Co-Owners, disable an account, revoke a Co-Owner's ownership entirely, and manage app-wide feature flags — all protected by that Root Owner's PIN.
- Co-Owner — runs their own independent group. Can add plain Members up to their license's seat limit, but cannot activate or change their own license — only the Root Owner issues or updates it, from Account > Members.
- Member — shares their group's data and sync but cannot create or manage any accounts or licenses.

QR Codes are included free on every tier, including Guest and Lite. Journal and Voice unlock starting on Pro, along with the ability to bookmark public share links you view. Draw and Translate unlock at Family. Restore Points unlock at Team. Every signed-in tier, including the free Lite plan, syncs your group's data to ApeXhit's own hosted database so it stays in step across devices and members; only Guest mode (no account) remains strictly local-only. The "Preview Price" column is a planned-pricing preview only — no billing is live yet, and every upgrade today is still free via Discord request. Account Actions & PIN Protection
Issuing or updating a license, disabling an account, revoking a license, revoking a Co-Owner's ownership, and changing app-wide feature flags are all Root-Owner actions protected by that Root Owner's security PIN, where enabled. Revoking ownership permanently deletes that Co-Owner's entire group; a disabled account keeps its data but cannot sign in until reinstated.
Feature Flags
The Root Owner has an extensible set of app-wide feature flags (Account > Feature Flags) that can turn specific capabilities on or off for everyone — including Guests. Currently this controls whether the manual Export/Import backup buttons and the multi-device Sync/Merge tool are shown; more controls will be added to this same panel over time. Feature flags never affect automatic cloud sync for any signed-in tier (including the free Lite plan).
Security Badge
LinkIT's current independent security scan grade (via VibeDx) is shown on the Legal Center homepage and in the site footer (now shown on every screen, signed in or as a Guest), and is kept current by the Root Owner.
